Modify HTTP headers in Chrome. Nothing else.

Set request and response headers, redirects and CORS for the sites you choose. No account, no tracking, no site access until you grant it. Imports your ModHeader profiles.

The Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons listings are on their way. Install links appear here as soon as they are live.

Free with no rule limits. Pro adds mocks, regex redirects, variables and sync.

The Headerbench editor with a Staging API profile: Authorization, X-Api-Version and X-Debug request headers, plus CORS response headers.

Works on fetch, XHR and POST

Headerbench hands your rules to Chrome’s own declarativeNetRequest engine. Chrome applies them to every request type you pick: fetch and XHR calls, form POSTs, iframes, scripts and images, not only the first page load. Nothing is injected into your pages, so requests are not slowed down and sites are not broken by a patched fetch.

When something doesn’t apply, Test a URL tells you which rule would match and why, and the popup shows what Chrome actually applied on the current tab.

Asks for access only where you need it

Installing Headerbench asks for no site access at all. When you turn on a profile, Headerbench asks Chrome for access to the sites that profile changes, such as api.staging.example.com, and the page you’re using it on, nothing more. The Permissions page lists every site it can touch, with a Revoke button for each.

Your rules stay in your browser. There are no analytics, no remote code, and the extension ships unminified so you can read what it does.

Migrating from ModHeader?

Export your profiles from ModHeader as JSON and import the file in Headerbench’s welcome screen. Headers, filters, redirects and comments come across; anything that can’t run under Chrome’s rules is imported switched off, with a line in the report saying why.

Convert a ModHeader export in your browser to preview the result first. The file never leaves the page.
